For the Love of Chickens

When we moved into our new house a few years ago on an acre one of the first things we wanted to do was get chickens. It had been our dream to have a property where we could have lots of animals. We have 23 chickens, 5 cats and two dogs and they all get along together. Yes that is Francis sharing space with the cats. She wants to lay her egg on their soft bed in the garage.

Raising chickens was the best decision we ever made. It has brought so much joy into our family and has taught our kids to be responsible in taking care of them and having Organic Fresh Eggs daily is the best! I never knew how good they tasted until I compared them to store bought.

My daughter Brianna has helped raise these chickens and now sells their eggs that helps pay for their Organic food and for extra curricular activities that she wants to try. She LOVES these chickens and they have been great therapy for her.

There is a lot to learn about raising chickens and they need to be taken care of properly so they don't get sick. We will do our best to teach you everything we know on how to have a healthy flock.

If you are going to have chickens you need to dedicate time to them, they work hard for us and give us great eggs so they need fresh water at all times, good food and a clean well vented place to live.

Let us know if there is a certain topic you would like information on and we will try to get it into a post for others to learn as well.

Here are a few pictures of our Roos and Hens.

These aren't all of them but a lot of them. They are all very different in their personalities and have their place in the rankings. If you take good care of your chickens they will take care of you by providing you some very tasty eggs.

Thanks for stopping by and more coming on how to take care of your chickens and lots of great tips.
